'Dancing With The Stars' Double Elimination Night Reveals Semi Finalists
This week results night on “Dancing with the Stars” saw two couples eliminated from the competition in a performance filled night of song and dance.
After Kylie Minogue opened the show, with a little help from the DWTS Troupe, Kym Johnson, and Tristan MacManus, in a performance of “The Locomotion”; Melissa and Tony and Shawn and Derek learned that they were safe and moving on to the semi finals.
In the Macy’s Stars of Dance cast members from “Newsies” performed “Seize the Day” and Grammy Award winning singer Ne-Yo sang his new single “Let Me Love You Until You Learn to Love Yourself”.
The next results brought with it elimination when Kristie and Maks and Kelly and Valentin learned their results. Kristie and Maks was the first couple eliminated from the competition this week. Kelly and Valentin were safe for another week.
In yet another twist for the season, one of the dances next week will be to a song from the Michael Jackson album “Bad”; the other was chosen by fellow competitors along with a dance theme – the song itself was not revealed…
Melissa and Tony – Caveman/Hustle
Shawn and Derek – Knight Rider/Bangra (an Indian dance)
Giles and Peta – Mad Monk/Meringue
Apolo and Karina – Big Top/Jazz
Emmitt and Cheryl – Espionage/Lindey Hop
Kelly and Valentin – Surfer/Flamenco
After a performance from Anna Trebunskaya, Valentin Chmerkovskiiy, and the principal dancers from the New York City Ballet, host Tom Bergeron revealed the final results of the night. Emmitt and Cheryl were safe leaving Apolo and Karina and Giles and Peta in the bottom and facing elimination.
The couple eliminated after eight weeks of dance was Giles and Peta; leaving Apolo and Karina as the last couple into the semi finals. After hearing the results Giles said that he had a feeling they would be leaving after their scores had dropped over the past couple of weeks.
