Actress Debra Messing separates from her longtime husband and finds solace a week later in co-worker Will Chase.
Last week, SheKnows learned Debra Messing separated from her husband of 10 years, television producer Daniel Zelman. Now we hear Debra Messing is getting close with her Smash co-star, Will Chase.
Peoplemagazine reports Chase is also newly single as he, "Recently separated from his wife, Broadway actress
Stephanie Gibson, and the couple are [sic] getting divorced." It looks like 43-year-old Messing and 41-year-old Chase can provide comfort and compassion to each other during the dissolution of both their marriages.
An insider told People, "It all happened very fast and it's a difficult situation." It sounds complicated, given that Messing has a 7-year-old son with Zelman and Chase has two daughters from a previous marriage prior to Gibson.
Messing told People back in 2004 she hoped her son, Roman, would someday turn out like her now soon-to-be ex-husband, "I want my child to be like my husband. He is sensitive, really intelligent, really funny… but solid. He has a good sense of perspective." Those words might be coming back to haunt Debra as she moves on with Chase as her main guy.
Messing and Chase's relationship becomes even more complicated given that Messing and Zelman still live together. The rationale behind the decision to remain under one roof seems to stem from the amicable nature of their split. Us Weekly reports Messing's rep told them, "The separation was entirely mutual." No word yet on if Debra's residence will change now that she's spending a lot of off-screen time with her new boyfriend.
