Recap: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Episode 18: ‘Dead to Me’

February 7th, 2013 9:35am EST
PLL S3E18
This episode was a massive bag of filler but even the Pretty Little Liars need a day off right?  Most of the girls are busy making their way through their own dramas all while seemingly ignoring a fractured Spencer.

Case in point:  While chilling at the Brew, Hanna and Emily are consoling Aria, who is in Ezra withdrawal.  They are all confused and they turn to their leader (Spencer) for guidance and she’s blank.  No emotion.  No proof she was even listening to the conversation.  She just makes up an excuse and heads up to the coffee house register.

Jason walks in and informs the Liars tha...

'Pretty Little Liars' Recap: 'Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Inferno'

January 30th, 2013 11:17am EST
Pretty Little Liars
A heartbroken Spencer makes for excellent television, this much we already knew.  How great it would be to watch however …I think we undersold it.  She goes through so many emotions in this episode – every scene she isn’t in just doesn’t seem to measure up.

Stage 1:  Denial and Isolation

We start with Spencer having a sex dream with Toby that goes awry.  Articles of clothes are being removed and then the next thing you know, Toby is in full A garb and strangling her.  That’s enough to dry out any wet dream.  And our heroine (somehow that’s what she seems like) awakens to figure out that r...

Recap: 'Pretty Little Liars': Episode 16: 'Misery Loves Company'

January 23rd, 2013 12:29pm EST
Pretty Little Liars
A lot happened in this episode.  Blondes showed their crazy.  Brunettes had breakdowns.  And a shirtless man appeared fresh out the shower.   There is so much to cover, let’s jump right in.

The girls are at the Montgomery house tending to a fever-ish Aria, who in her stupor she insists that they leave her all alone at home with a band of crazy people around.  She’ll manage on her own.  This clearly will not end well.

And to prove it, Toby and Mona are in their new hide-out, which looks exactly like the last one, cooking up a dastardly plan that will instill fear into the hearts of the gir...

'Arrow' Recap: Episode 10: 'Burned'

Arrow - Burned
Previously on "Arrow":  Oliver, our hooded hero, went up against the Dark Archer (aka Malcolm Meryln, the father of his best friend.  He lost and barely escaped with his life. And Oliver’s mother Moira Queen attempted to make a turn for good but her plans were thwarted by Malcolm, who kidnapped her husband, Walter, to ensure her cooperation in his evil plan.

The latest episode finds us six weeks down the road since Arrow’s fight with the Dark Archer and yet Oliver is still feeling the effects.  He hasn’t been on the prowl for the criminal element haunting Starling City or marking off peopl...

Recap: 'Pretty Little Liars' Episode 15: 'Mona-Mania!'

January 16th, 2013 11:04am EST
PLLs S3EP15
Seems these days Bryon is always apologizing for something.  And things are no different in “Mona-Mania.”  The daddy with the leastest (we’re just going to pretend Hanna’s dad doesn’t exist) apologizes to Aria for accusing her and her friends of arson and attempted murder but she shrugs it off.  Nothing is forgiven.

While they are both bemoaning his failure as a father, Em, Hanna and Spence are back at the high school basement (a major location for this half of the season apparently).  Hanna is overwhelmed at the thought of having to worry about Aria’s daddy issues on top of her own. Spenc...

Recap: 'Pretty Little Liars' Episode 14: 'She's Better Now'

January 9th, 2013 10:26am EST
Pretty Little Liars
The Freaks Come Out At Night

It’s the wee hours of the night in Rosewood, PA and the freaks are out and about wreaking havoc.  Mona’s creeping into Hanna’s house to beg her former best friend for help with her biggest obstacle to date:  walking back into high school post-scandal.  Because she’s better now (at being evil) and the other kids will be mean.  And Toby is trying to run over some black hooded-kid on a skateboard, who refuses to accept that the sidewalk is his friend as opposed to the middle of the street where all cars fit. (That kid is revealed later, hang tight!)

A Dad’s Awake...

'Arrow' Recap: Episode 9: ‘Year’s End’

December 13th, 2012 11:37am EST
the Queen family
T’was a few nights before Christmas when a new killer made his presence known in Starling City by taking out some bad guy named Adam Hunt. And we know its Hunt because he’s been saving every newspaper article with his name on it.

Elsewhere our hero is practicing close combat with Diggle, but not for long because the bodyguard says he has to go put in some face-time with his sister-in-law by taking his nephew to see Santa. This makes Oliver reminisce of Christmas’ past when all was right in their family and evil prevailed; he’s now slightly resolved to return the holiday cheer to the Quee...

'Arrow' Recap: Episode 8: 'Vendetta'

December 6th, 2012 2:23pm EST
Arrow and The Huntress
At the start we find our hero and the huntress waking after a night of passion (that we didn’t get to see). But we don’t linger in Oliver’s bed long. Helena is off, up, and back to her killing ways once again. Girl sure doesn’t waste time does she? On her rader: the Triad. She wants to knock off the head of the Triad and then get the criminal organization (along with China White) to take on her father. But thanks to Oliver her initial attempt misfires.

He sweetens up the bitter sting of failure by taking her on a second date however. It’s a little weird because he’s giving off rela...

'Arrow' Recap: Episode 7: 'Muse of Fire'

December 2nd, 2012 11:30am EST
Arrow
At the start of "Arrow's" latest episode, our hooded fellow is riding on his motorcycle and sulking over his forgotten lunch date with his mother. But the reminder, courtesy of Thea, turned out to be a segue to the introduction of this week’s target as Oliver witnesses another black leathered motorcyclist commit one of the more accurate drive-bys in recent television history.

The target: yet another shady business man with mob ties. Why is this a problem you ask? Well before becoming a part of the death-by-vigilante statistic in Starling City, the business man was attempting to close a...

Oliver & Diggle Training
Arrow opens up with a bank robbery – or business as usual in Starling City. The crime is carried out by a ski-mark wearing group known as the Royal Flush Gang. They’re skilled, working on a clock, and attempted killers of a cop, who attempts to save the day. And just when it starts to look like they are going to get caught, they are revealed to be smarter than the responding cops by having a Plan B and an alternate escape route.

Elsewhere in the city, Oliver is literally beating Diggle into shape and revealing the name of their latest target: Scott Morgan. But the former Marine has di...
