Poplopedia: The Chris Brown/Michael Jackson Connection

July 6th, 2010 3:20pm EDT
Chris Brown
Chris Brown’s recent performance at the BET Awards – which aired Sunday, June 27, 2010 – has left people reconsidering his place in music. Following his much publicized physical altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, most had counted Chris out. His impressive dance tribute, which will more than likely go down as a memorable moment in music history, may have been his shot at regaining success.

Brown’s tribute was to Michael Jackson – an incredible entertainer that almost all can concur was one of the greats. It wasn’t always like that for Michael and things weren’t always rocky for Chris B...

Poplopedia: Maybe Miley Cyrus Is Just Misunderstood

June 22nd, 2010 11:09am EDT
Miley Cyrus Is Just Misunderstood
For a teenager, Miley Cyrus sure is a tabloid staple. Her most recent headline news involved gossip blogger Perez Hilton who posted a photo that allegedly displayed Miley’s Hannah Montana down below.

The always criticized actress was immediately coddled and fingers were pointed at Perez for being a pervert. He later admitted via video that the photo was a fake and that he wasn’t foolish enough to post a bare crotch shot of a 17-year old girl. May 18th, 2010 12:08pm EDT
Betty White Hot In Cleveland
For years, a large number of entertainers have literally hung on to the belief that once wrinkles became their reality, public interest would decrease.

Many swore by the pseudo fountain of youth, doing everything from smearing their faces with snake venom to maintaining discrete semi-yearly appointments with their plastic surgeons to make sure their body parts refrained from sagging or to get their faces pushed and pinned back securely (sorry for the mental picture), all to insure that they would land a major role before the fresh faced 25-year olds.

The recent revamped success of Betty W...

Can You Really Find Love On A Reality Dating Show?

February 11th, 2010 5:00pm EST
The Bachelor
Over the years, reality TV programming has become the most sought after form of television in comparison to good old-fashioned scripted dramas and comedies.

What's not to love about the reality of reality TV? There are no actors, which inevitably means real people dealing with real situations - well, that was what it was supposed to be.

Reality dating shows are really popular right now. They focus on one individual dipping his or her hands and other body parts into a group of eligible contestants. Little by little, the lucky individual determines if the eligible suitors are just righ...

5 Shows MTV Needs To Bring Back

November 13th, 2009 3:05pm EST
MTV
It has been made very clear that MTV has lost touch with the M in their acronym. There are far more reality shows on the music network than there are music. Music videos are rarely played, unless of course, you count the short snippets of music videos that play in a small window on your television screen as the credits roll past on a re-run of a reality show that has played for the second time in the same day.

The music authority caught flak in October for their Hottest MCs in the Game list that left out rapper Eminem from its top 10. Most said that MTV lost credibility for the aforement...
