For a teenager, Miley Cyrus sure is a tabloid staple. Her most recent headline news involved gossip blogger Perez Hilton who posted a photo that allegedly displayed Miley’s Hannah Montana down below.

The always criticized actress was immediately coddled and fingers were pointed at Perez for being a pervert. He later admitted via video that the photo was a fake and that he wasn’t foolish enough to post a bare crotch shot of a 17-year old girl. And to think, this event got more attention than the revelation 2-years ago that a then 15-year old Miley was dating a guy who was a year away from drinking legally, go figure.

Though some people came to her rescue after screaming child pornography Perez’s way, things haven’t always been peachy for Cyrus.

Miley is often scolded for being, well, too much of a free spirit.

Her clothes are skimpy, she dances in a way that has been deemed proactive and she likes to swing from ice cream wagon poles. The title is harsh but if it walks like a duck dot, dot, dot.

But what if people just don’t understand Miley? Yes, she’s a bit much for the old-fashion-clutch-your-pearls crowd, but we forget that she is a teenager. Her mistakes are similar to other teenage errors, the only difference is that hers is being documented then placed in tabloid magazines and websites for all to see and judge.

Imagine the pressure these Disney stars have to face.

Most become household names before they hit puberty and are expected to act a certain way and to refrain from doing things that people view as inappropriate. And when they do have a slip-up (or fifteen) doing something that they know may have been a bad idea to do in the first place, instead of being reprimanded by parents and placed on punishment, they have to deal with the parental public and their cut throat opinions of them.

Although Miley admits that she doesn’t read negative stories about herself, we all know she does. Gossip even about one’s self is just too hard to ignore or even to avoid.

Who knows, maybe one day Miley will decide that she doesn’t enjoy wearing snug daisy dukes to grab a cup of coffee or that she doesn’t really want to simulate a lesbian kiss on stage.

Take Drew Barrymore for instance; she went to rehab because of her addiction to alcohol when she was 13 and look how great she turned out minus her Tom Green phase.

Miley Cyrus has a lot to learn but usually that is the case when your 17, so has been said.

One day we will look back at this and just laugh; unless of course we end up having another Lindsay Lohan situation. If the latter does happen, the good news is that E! will have enough material for another one of those child star gone wrong true Hollywood stories.
