Lady Gaga Pre 'Fame,' Beyonce Named Billboard's Woman Of The Year, Jay-Z Hottest MC, More

Weekly Music News: Jay-Z and Beyonce have yet again proven that they are the King and Queen of music; apparently, the saying that it is lonely at the top does not apply to the Carters. Jay-Z is named "Hottest MC in the Game", Beyonce is Woman of the Year, DJ AM's reality show coming to MTV, and Brandy singing a cappella in her bathroom round's out this week's music news.
Lady Gaga/Kanye West cancels "Fame Kills" tour
The most anticipated tour of the year has been canceled indefinitely. Various sources have reported that the cancellation was due to low ticket sales while others have credited "creative differences" between Kanye and Lady Gaga as the cause of the now defunct tour. Lady Gaga revealed to the Associated Press that the reason for the canceled tour was due to a mutual decision between her and Kanye to cancel the tour so that the rapper could take some time off. Though Gaga and Kanye will not be embarking on a tour together Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will tour solo. Speaking of Gaga, MTV went digging through their vaults and found an old episode of their hidden camera prank show "Boiling Points" and guess who was an unsuspecting contestant? That's right, Lady Gaga makes an appearance on the show before the "Fame", pun intended.

Jay-Z named Hottest MC in the Game by MTV
MTV has made their decision on who the hottest MC in the game is and Jay-Z has been given the honor of wearing the crown. The debates have begun and the mud has been slung with some saying that Jay-Z just isn't deserving of it. The decision was determined by a round table of MTV journalist and the like that gave their opinions, some based on personal feelings others on fact, about who they felt were the best MC's in Hip-Hop. Kanye West came in 4th place, Drake came in 3rd and Lil Wayne came in 2nd. What has had the Hip-Hop fans up in arms and clutching their pearls (well, maybe not their pearls) is the fact that Eminem was nowhere to be found on the list, which really was a shocker. Though Eminem can be quite contentious in his lyrics, his skills are incredibly unmatched by most of the rappers in Hip-Hop. On another note, it's hard to see why people would be so bothered by a brand whose network plays more reality TV than music videos. Jay-Z, however, in many ways is well deserving of the honor even New York's Governor David Paterson would agree with that.
Beyonce named Billboard's Woman of the Year and addresses Kanye West's VMA outburst
While husband Jay-Z was busy being dubbed the King of Hip-Hop, Beyonce was in the midst of accepting her award as Billboard's Woman of the Year. Among Beyonce's accomplishments, the singer was selected to sing the Etta James classic "At Last" for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's first dance at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball and most notably her worldwide "I Am" tour pulling in $53 million to date; keep in mind that these events have transpired all in one year. After accepting her award, Beyonce sat and spoke with Oprah's BFF Gayle King. The two discussed her viral popular video for "Single Ladies" and Beyonce briefly touched on Kanye West's VMA outburst saying, "Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award. And when they didn't call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, 'No, no, no!' and then he spoke, and I was like, 'Oh, no, no, no!'"

Brandy exercises her vocals in the bathroom
Brandy's popularity has sky rocketed thanks to You Tube and her impressive bathroom singing. While others are flocking to the studio's to record new albums, Brandy is uploading video's showing that she doesn't need artificial synthesizers to bring out her natural voice. After receiving rave reviews about her a cappella cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" the singer took to her twitter and had this to say, "I'm on cloud 9 right now-All the love from my youtube video and my performance last night with Tim, I am OVERWHELMED-Thank you for loving me." Was there any doubt that Brandy no longer had the voice?
