Leah ReminiThe King of Queens star Leah Remini has confirmed that she’s parted ways with the controversial Church of Scientology.

In a statement released to Us Weekly, the 43-year-old actress said “I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my colleagues, and from fans around the world.   I am truly grateful and thankful for all your support.”

The New York Post reported Thursday that Remini made her decision based on several factors, including management decisions by the church’s leader David Miscavige, physical and mental abuse of church members and the church’s excommunication practices.

Leah’s the latest in a high profile list of celebs breaking ties with the Church of Scientology.  Katie Holmes broke away from it upon divorcing Tom Cruise in the summer of 2012 and Lisa Marie Presley has distanced herself from the church over the past several years.
