Ryan Seacrest How many jobs can one person do in a day? If this rumor turns out to be true, Ryan Seacrest just might set a new record.

The American Idol host is reportedly NBC’s top pick to replace Matt Lauer as host of the Today show if Lauer doesn’t renew his contract. Lauer has been co-host of NBC’s popular morning show since 1997, but his contract is up in 2012.

NBC is taking it pretty seriously and already looking at candidates to replace him should Lauer decide to bolt. And their top pick? The American Idol host.

Seacrest is already host of a popular morning radio show in Los Angeles, host and managing editor of E! News for the E! network as well as their main correspondent for award show red carpets. He’s executive producer of a number of popular reality shows including Keeping Up with the Kardashians. And of course he’s best known as host of the hugely popular Americal Idol.

So how could the Today show – which is based in New York City – fit in with all of Seacrest’s other ventures? We’re not sure and likely neither is he. Reports are that the talks are just in the preliminary stages right now so he’d have plenty of time to figure out how to balance hosting the Today show with his already bursting schedule.
