'Survivor: Caramoan' - 'Kill Or Be Killed': Days Of Shamar's Life Undone By Sand
Last week on Survivor, the Fan’s Shamar threatened to quit, but stayed out of a sense of ‘loyalty’ to his team, which kept losing every challenge. The Favorites were in high spirits, enjoying a triumphant return to the game. Intent on destroying the ‘pretty people alliance,’ even at the expense of the tribe’s success, Sherri and Laura manipulated the other players into voting out Hope.
Eddie and Reynold were angry and frustrated that Sherri continued to stick by the increasingly annoying Shamar. Confronted post-Council, Sherri and Laura were indignant at the notion that their manipulations might have weakened the Gota tribe further.
As the sun rises on Bikal, Phillip of the Faves – aka The Specialist – decides that naming everyone in his tribe will motivate them to work as one. More a Napoleon Dynamite than Bonaparte, he begins naming people who aren’t even in his alliance; Erik becomes The Silent One, “cuz I’m silent!,” Brandon is The Conqueror, and Brenda is Serenity. Brandon notes that the ‘discerning’ secret agent can’t seem to figure out that he’s being lied to. “This agent sucks bad!”
I do hope Phillip’s plan to pull the group together works, because it’s time for a Reward Challenge. Jeff Probst welcomes the two tribes, and explains the game: two members of each tribe will stand on platforms in the water and then be transferred to a third platform on planks. Then all eight players will swim out to an even smaller platform, and somehow get everyone on it without falling off. Winning team will have a special treat delivered to them by a local Bushman, who will prepare a meal for them on their beach. Survivors ready?
The Faves sit out Cochran, who seems to be pretty much over the sunburn. Both teams work well and quickly. The only tension comes when the teams are trying to fit on their tiny platforms. Shamar is used as the base of the Fans pyramid, with everyone on or around him. But despite Shamar screaming “that’s what I’m talking about,” the Favorites win again.
A tiny Philippine Bushman rows up to Bikal’s beach, with a chicken, fruit, vegetables and rice, to prepare a feast for the tribe. He’ll also be giving them advice on improving their camp, if they can just understand his words! “About four feet tall, 60 years old, and knotted up with muscles,” says Malcolm, “he’s like a Filipino Gollum!”
Little Tata shows them a few survival tricks, including how to cook rice inside bamboo stalks. Later, Tata fixes their shelter, and then dances with the tribe, getting jiggy with the girls.
