Hello all – my name’s Lee and I am a native of New York City. For many years the art of film has intrigued me in every way, shape or form until I could no longer suppress my desire to work within it at any capacity and made my move. Jumping from one place to another, I discovered writing, love it unconscionably and here I am!

Review: 'Snow White And The Huntsman' Will Appeal To The 'Twilight' Crowd Only

May 31st, 2012 12:04pm EDT
Snow White and the Huntsman
If I was an Emo, a teen or Goth aficionado, maybe I would be going nuts like that cat in Miami who chewed off that dude’s face about this flick. But I’m not! Why? Well, because this experience was a see-saw that went beyond what its run-time should have been.

Attention Team (Kristen) Stewart, even if she has lips as red as blood, and hair as dark as night, her acting in this film is as nauseously zombified as Twilight’s. For reasons beyond my comprehension, the role of Snow White doesn’t steer off much than Bella Swan. The exception: in this one she obtains body-armor, a sword and gets to ...

Review: 'Battleship' Sinking Faster Than Titanic

May 19th, 2012 9:03am EDT
Battleship
You sank my battleship! (Remember playing that?). Peter Berg (A man with his fingers dipped in many batters) presents us with yet another aliens-trying-to-take-over-earth piece. Like ALL films within the particular genre, I think you can guess the outcome: They attack, a few people die, there’s a harsh build-up – YAY…humanoids win! (BARF!)

It was pretty shocking when I heard Hasbro’s famous board-game was being turned into a film – I dare not say adaptation, because it was far from it. Truth is Hollywood loves money-makers, and wherever they feel there’s a franchise to expose and/or expl...

Johnny Depp's Dark Humor And Charm Works In 'Dark Shadows'

May 11th, 2012 8:05am EDT
Dark Shadows
"Dark Shadows" is filled with lots of goth-like sarcasm and dysfunctional characters which include, a reluctant vampire with irresistible swag; a mysterious women who is strangely drawn to him; a jealous voluptuous vixen who’s both a seductress and witch; a strange family in a creepy mansion, with secrets all around and complexities that date back centuries.

In a nutshell, that pretty much sums up “Dark Shadows.”

With a template that goes back to 60s cult-based television, breaking the mold for daytime soaps, fans of the original version are debating whether or not to see the rehash-for-t...

'The Avengers': A Perfect Example Of What A Superhero Movie Should Be

May 4th, 2012 12:20pm EDT
The Avengers
Four years after Iron Man’s end credits, the tone after a talk between Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) struck a match! The mindset of what was to come sent chills up my spine, to the top of my head, back down, then off the side of my rear. I couldn’t wait to see who they tapped to work an "Avengers" movie and how they planned on tackling it. The tease was there. As time went on the hero flicks and additional hints followed, and - finally – Marvel’s The Avengers has landed after some intense adrenaline-rush assembling!

Marvel Studios has put together an u...

Review: Guy Pearce – The Only Reason To Lock In With 'Lockout'

April 12th, 2012 7:04pm EDT
Lockout
Psychotic “Sci-fi” high on intensity and edgy, witty dialog – rattling ride! That’s how I’m describing Lockout, a dark piece which practically resembles a futuristic Alcatraz or San Quentin gone haywire.

MS-1 is an experimental futuristic prison in space where the 500 most dangerous criminals on this big blue marble are incarcerated in an artificial sleep. Leading a humanitarian mission, the daughter of the U.S. president, Emilie (Maggie Grace) arrives on board the station, just as an unexpectedly violent act breaks out. Emilie and the crew of MS-1 are taken hostage by its rowdy, rough-n...

'American Reunion' Review: A Funnier Than Expected Surprise

April 6th, 2012 3:00pm EDT
American Reunion
For anyone caught like a deer in headlights regarding this film, shame on you! Of course there had to be a reunion! With all the garbage that’s been produced on this franchise’s name – Including spin-offs – Hollywood needed to do something to help revive a comedy which stood strong 13 years ago, as well as throw the entire cast a bone. Seriously – it was either teaming up for one last hurrah and party like it’s 1999 or go down the Dancing with the Stars / Celebrity Apprentice Street.

Although not eons since the one-and-only funny film in the American Pie franchise hit, it does feel like ...

Review: 'Casa De Mi Padre' - A Strange Film That Works

March 14th, 2012 12:15pm EDT
Casa de mi Padre
Every once in a while a film pops up that's so puzzling after a while our brains wind up going on strike. Why? Because the approach is so low-key, unique and dare I say misfit-like. However, sometimes that little strange film winds up beating the odds, thus becoming an underrated hit reaching cult classic status. (If you need proof, remember NAPOLEON DYNAMITE? Need I say more?!?)

Fast forward to 2012, and that small film causing much snickering from doubters and haters happens to be Casa de mi Padre. This film wrangled up what some would consider a cast of oddities based on their usual swa...

Review: 'Silent House': A Psychological Horror - Thriller In Real Time

March 8th, 2012 11:00am EST
Silent House
The art of cinematic horror has undergone a series of changes through the years. Filmmakers have molded it towards an evolving form of storytelling technicalities to provide elevated fear-factor in all aspects of the craft – editing, visuals, scenery, sound etc. – it’s become a harsh manipulation of various facets for the purpose of making sure moviegoers keep a desperate level of suspense and intrigue.

However, the irony here is ripping off some of those tactics, and you have 'Silent House.' A rehash of a Uruguayan film titled LA CASA MUDA (SILENT HOUSE) – a clever dismantling of percepti...

Review: ‘The Lorax’ – An Ecological, Logical, Toggle Of Mind-Boggle In Orange Instead Of Green

March 1st, 2012 2:00pm EST
The Lorax
The latest in the ever-so-famous Dr. Seuss collection, 'The Lorax' is an adaptation I wasn’t too sure about due to a mediocre trailer. But the movie is much stronger and will suck every man, woman and child into a vortex of make-believe, mixed with a dash of contemporary debate.

'The Lorax' follows Ted (Zac Efron), a boy who searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of Audrey (Taylor Swift), the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax (Danny DeVito), the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect more than just his world t...

Review: An 'Act Of Valor' Without Propaganda Or Political Glorification

February 24th, 2012 1:00pm EST
Act Of Valor
I remember the first time I became aware of Act of Valor. I was skimming through my Flixster app on my phone and BOOM - the film's poster and title stood out without much information other than some credits and its release date. I wasn't really taken by it, so I moved on. As days went on, it kept coming up and I even recall someone referring to it as the "Call of Duty" movie.

I respect every man, woman, and child on this big blue marble we share, but I also respect myself and views. Therefore being one who's as anti-war as it comes (due to my own dictatorship) I kept shrugging it off. Many...
