Former NSYNC member, Justin Timberlake, has nearly sealed his triumphant return to the charts as one of the most successful single artists in the biz, by picking up six nominations for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Like the phoenix from the ashes, Timberlake slammed us early this year with a sudden entrance back into the music business with his stellar single 'Suit and Tie' - a collaboration between him and hip-hop artist and rapper, Jay-Z. Following that came his first album in seven years, the much lauded 20/20 Experience.
Timberlake stands to win the highly sought after 'Video of the Year' award, as well as the Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing for his song 'Mirrors' alone. His Collaboration with Jay-Z for 'Suit and Tie' have put him in the running for Best Collaboration and Best Direction.
However, hot on Justin's tail is a new contender, a band until recently largely unknown. Macklemore featuring Ryan Lewis, the pop-geniuses responsible for that infectious earworm 'Thrift Shop' have also picked up six nods, including Video of the Year for their hit single 'Thrift Shop' as well as Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Video With a Social Message and Best Editing for Can't Hold Us.
