The CW Renews 'Arrow,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Originals,' 'Supernatural' & 'Reign'
"The Carrie Diaries," "Hart of Dixie," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Tomorrow People" were not mentioned in the network's press release.
The Tuesday night pairing of "The Originals" and "Supernatural" gave the CW its best night in years, Pedowitz explained, adding that Wednesday and Thursday nights have also been strong due to "Vampire Diaries," "Arrow" and "Reign."
"I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season," he said.
The network's ratings have doubled for Tuesday nights from 1.7 million to 3.2 million due to the success of "The Originals" and "Supernatural."
Meanwhile, "Supernatural," currently in its ninth season, has seen double-digit increases year-to-year in total viewers and all key demos. The show recently had its most watched episodes since 2010.
"Arrow," in the midst of season two, is the network's most-watched series, with an average of 3.9 million viewers, while "The Vampire Diaries" remains the CW's highest-rated show in all key demos in its fifth season.
"Reign" continues to draw more viewers as the season progresses.
Several shows have also enjoyed digital success. "Arrow" and "The Vampire Diaires" saw a 25 percent increase over last season. "Supernatural" increased its digital audience by 57 percent.
ListenFirst Media also named "The Originals" the most social new series of the fall season.
