Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year's American Music Awards nominations with nods for "Artist of the Year," "Single of the Year" for their number-one song "Thrift Shop," and "New Artist of the Year."

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are also nominated for "Favorite Band, Duo or Group-Pop/Rock," "Favorite Artist-Rap/Hip-Hop" and "Favorite Album-Rap/Hip-Hop" for their platinum-selling debut, "The Heist."

Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Taylor Swift were also nominated multiple times. Timberlake ("The 20/20 Experience") swept the MTV Video Music Awards in August with consideration in the "Artist of the Year" and "Favourite Soul/R&B Male Artist" categories.

Rihanna and Swift will battle with Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in the "Artist of the Year" category, and they will also go compete for the "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist" trophy.

Bruno Mars, who will perform during halftime at the Super Bowl in February, rounds out the race for "Artist of the Year."

Kelly Clarkson and will.i.am announced the partial nominations list "Good Morning America" this morning. The annual music awards ceremony will take place on November 24.
