Jake Gyllenhaal Recalls Missing Out On 'Mighty Ducks' Role
Jake Gyllenhaal was devasted after his parent wouldn't allow him to star in 1992 ice hockey movie "The Mighty Ducks." They wouldn't allow him to make a film while he was studying.
The actor movie debut in "City Slickers" the year before, but his parents wanted him to focus on school work, not film.
Gyllenhaal recalls: "I was about to apply to junior high school and it was The Mighty Ducks, and I remember them saying no... I remember crying on the kitchen counter, telling them that I hated them. The Mighty Ducks is a good movie."
The actor currently stars in "Prisoners" alongside Hugh Jackman about a man whose daughter is kidnapped and takes matters into his own hands after police fumble the investigation.
