It's a big day for Nicki Minaj - she turns 30 today! The hip hop star was born Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982, in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago.

The singer has been making waves recently for her upcoming stint as a judge on "American Idol." She had a highly publicized spat with her co-judge Mariah Carey and later got into a Twitter feud with ex-judge Steven Tyler.

Season 12 of the singing competition kicks off in January, and country star Keith Urban also joins the panel. We can't wait to see the sparks fly!
