Masi Oka of Heroes

Masi Oka is our hero. He's been spending the holiday season pimping the Red Cross and asking people to volunteer. He also spilled a little about "Heroes" to Starpulse and what to expect in the season's final few episodes.

What can you tell us about your involvement in the Red Cross?

I'm part of the National Celebrity Cabinet, and what it is is to spread the word out there to go volunteer. Visit redcross.org and get some information on how you can volunteer.

What kind of things can the average person do to volunteer?

There are a lot of things - signing up that you're willing to volunteer - when there's a local disaster you'll be able to help out with the people in need who are affected by the disaster...being part of blood donation and collection...teaching swimming lessons, maybe babysitting, even CPR.

Let's talk a little bit about "Heroes." What can we expect for the rest of the season? Will Hiro actually reconnect with Charlie?

There are about six episodes left, and we'll be wrapping up all the storylines. There has to be three things. One is dealing with Dr. Suresh, getting him out of there, and reversing what he did. Finding Charlie. And dealing with his brain tumor. All three of those will be resolved. Everything will have a final conclusion one way or the other. Good or bad.

HeroesHow do you feel about the departure of Adrian Pasdar?

Oh, it's always such a sad thing. He's a family member, and to me since day one he's been my friend, my mentor, and he's been my brother. It's always sad to see a colleague not return to the show because they are part of your family. It's definitely sad. But at the same time AJ and I are close. We always see each other outside of the show, which is fantastic. I may have lost Nathan Petrelli, but fortunately I've gained a friend for life.

It's great to get along with your coworkers!

It's great. He's been so inspiring. We do miss him. He has such positive spirit on set, unfortunately life has to go on. That's what the powers that be decided.

There have been rumors this might be the last season. Do you have any comments on that?

Everything's up in the air. We don't know. NBC is going through the pilot season; they have to decide what dramas they'll pick up. They're being bought by Comcast as well so there are a lot of factors, business decisions and political reasons that a show might make or not make it. It's no secret that our ratings have slipped since season one. I thought creatively this was the second strongest season after the first season, so we're very jazzed about that. But this is show business so nothing can be set in stone. The only thing I do hope is to be able to give a proper conclusion to the series and pay respect to the fans who have supported us and followed us from the get go and give it an end to all the characters' storylines, kind of what Lost is doing.

Where would you like Hiro to be at the end of the series?

Since day one I thought his end would be in an intimate loop with Charlie - just keep on revisiting that time over and over and over again. I thought that would be a bittersweet ending for Hiro.

Do you have any New Year's resolutions?

My New Year's resolution is to open my eyes. What that means to me is to be inspired more by the things around me and hopefully inspire them back. And also to just be aware of what's going on not only to my own life but to the people around me. To give back - work, family, friends. Literally just opening my eyes, just being aware, and absorbing everything. Living life to the fullest.

"Heroes" airs a special two-hour episode tonight at 8/7 central.
