Comic-Con: Loki Takes Over Hall H in Surprise 'Thor' Appearance
Boy, the 6,000-plus attendees at San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H certainly had a surprised-filled buffet on Sunday.
First, the cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" pulled a fast one and made a surprise panel appearance — yes, that included Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence, which is probably too much hotness in one room, even if it is gigantic. Then, none other than Tom Hiddleston himself moseyed in, dressed in full as his villainous alter-ego Loki from "Thor" and "Thor: The Dark World." Wut.
And get this: As an added touch, the lights in Hall H went dark just before Loki appeared in full gear, giving him all the drama he deserved for this move. Ermahgerd!
As you can see from this video, Loki stomped around the stage with diabolical swag, and the crowd went absolutely bonkers. In a playful power game, Loki managed to get the raucous crowd to scream his name four times before snidely remarking, "it seems I have an army." He then introduced a new "Thor" clip (in character, duh!) before sauntering off the stage. The crowd totally didn't know what hit 'em. Now that's show biz, people!
Loki's stunt was only the start of an incredible Marvel panel, of course. Shortly after his departure, the cast of 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy" made a little appearance, but enough about that. More Loki!
The L.A. Times caught up with Hiddleston following his bravura performance to chat about bringing Loki to Comic-Con life. "It was fun," Hiddleston said. "It was absolutely amazing ... To go out there in costume, adrenaline was coursing through my body in a way that I haven’t had in a while." Us too, T.H. Us too.
Sadly, fans won't see Loki's adrenaline coursing through "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," the sequel to the 2012 flick where Hiddleston's Loki was the main villain. Director Joss Whedon shot down any Loki involvement earlier this year when he said, simply, "Loki's not there." Womp.
But fear not, Hiddlestoners, "Thor: The Dark World" is slated for a Nov. 8 release, so you'll get to see this mug again sooner than later.
