Celebrate James Bond Day With Adele and a New 'Skyfall' Clip
Forget Halloween and Columbus Day, because October's number one holiday is being celebrated today worldwide: Global James Bond Day, which marks the 50th anniversary of the 1962 release of the first James Bond film, "Dr. No."
And in order to really celebrate in style, not only do we have Adele's new theme song for you, we've also got a brand new clip from next month's "Skyfall" as well.
Hey, it was either that or give everyone a license to kill.
Since that would have been a pretty bad idea, though, we figured we'd leave the killing (and ladykilling) to Daniel Craig, who in this new clip shows off Bond's unflappable cool by calmly leaping from a giant backhoe onto a moving train.
And that's pretty scary, but for Adele, not quite as scary as the prospect of trying to live up to 50 years worth of iconic theme songs.
"I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for 'Skyfall,'" Adele admitted in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter about her collaboration with songwriter Paul Epsworth. "There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end."
So in honor of Bond's 50th anniversary, here's a brand new clip for "Skyfall," followed by Adele's new theme song:
