Chris Hemsworth

It's simple logic: When you have an important job that needs to get done, you call in someone who has experience doing it. A pipe breaks in your basement? You don't have your cousin Kenny take a look at it, you call in an expert plumber. Tear something in your shoulder playing basketball? Forget about asking your neighbor Lou for advice, it's time to see an arthroscopic surgeon.

And when the world is about to end via "Robopocalypse?" Well, that's a job for Chris Hemsworth.

Trust us, he knows what he's doing.

Yes, folks, the future of the world — or at least the entertainment future of the world — has just been secured, because according to Deadline, Steven Spielberg has offered the lead role in his upcoming sci-fi epic "Robopocalypse" to Hemsworth.

Which makes sense. After all, Hemsworth is no stranger to either blockbusters or saving the world, having previously protected Earth (or some version of it) in "Thor," "The Avengers" and "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Now he's reportedly taking on his biggest challenge yet. Based on the popular novel by Daniel H. Wilson, which hit shelves last month, "Robopocalypse" tells the story of humanity's struggle to survive and long-anticipated rise of the machines. And while the premise may not exactly be groundbreaking (robots: Messing up humans on screen since 1927's "Metropolis"), the chance to work with an undisputed master like Spielberg gives Hemsworth a great opportunity to show the world exactly what's he capable of — besides saving it.

Because clearly he's an expert at that.
