Rebel Wilson Signs Up For Bodybuilder Crime Drama 'Pain And Gain'
After years of cranking out rock 'em sock 'em "Transformers" blowouts, Michael Bay is finally seizing the chance to rebel.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Aussie comedienne/scene stealer Rebel Wilson is stuck between The Rock and a hard place as she joins Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg in Bay's bodybuilder crime drama "Pain and Gain."
Wilson apparently landed on Bay's radar (Baydar?) after she became the other plus-size sensation besides Melissa McCarthy to gain some "Bridesmaids" traction as Brynn, the oddball roommate of Kristen Wiig who mistook her diary for "a very sad handwritten book."
No word on what role she'll "Gain" for the film, but she'll join the already-impressive supporting team of Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Anthony Mackie, and Rob Corddry.
This is just another step in a whirlwind year for Wilson, who has "What to Expect When You’re Expecting" coming up along with Sundance surprise "Bachelorette," the all-female college a cappella comedy "Pitch Perfect," and voicing "Ice Age: Continental Drift." Oh, and she's sitcoming it up in Conan O’Brien's promising pilot "Super Fun Night" for CBS.
Currently the actress's figure is less "hour glass" and more "Liberty Bell," but all that might change by the time cameras roll on Bay's opus this spring considering she's just become a spokesperson for Jenny Craig in Australia.
It'll be a long road before she can make a Jonah Hill-esque transformation (hopefully without the Jonah Hill-esque relapse), but you know what they say: no pain, no gain.
Rebel Rebel, how could they know? Hot tramp, we love you so!
