Johnny Depp is infamous for basing his characters on real life personalities, especially famous musicians.

Captain Jack Sparrow from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films was, of course, modeled after Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, while Depp's take on Willy Wonka from "Charlies and the Chocolate Factory" was believed by many to be a thinly veiled interpretation of Michael Jackson.

All of which may help explain why the latest photo from "Dark Shadows" features a Depp who looks startlingly like My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.  

Of course, we might just be reading a little too much into this one; after all, Depp's character, the ancient vampire Barnabas Collins, is... well, an ancient vampire, the likes of which was the inspiration for much of the whole goth/Robert Smith sort of look.
