Now 35 years of age, Jay Wayne “Young Jeezy” Jenkins is nothing short of a grown man. So, there’s no better time to drop the ‘Young’ part of his stage moniker and just keep it simple by being referred to as Jeezy. The Snowman has decided to drop ‘Young’ effective immediately.
He confirmed this decision on MTV’s RapFix Live Wednesday, after host Sway Calloway introduced him incorrectly. “It’s Jeezy now,” the rapper proclaimed. “I’m grown now. I did enough of that.”
Apparently, more than a decade in the music game has blossomed a more mature side of the Atlanta rapper.
It sounds good because when I came into the game, that’s what I was and that was my state of mind. But I’m a grown man now.
Jeezy isn’t the only rapper switching up his name. Jay Z dropped the hyphen in his name three years ago, but the media just recently caught on. Bow Wow also got rid of the ‘Lil’ preceding his stage name a few years ago as well.
