Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell has applied for his newborn son's passport.

'The X Factor' boss, who plans to divide his time between London and New York City, where his girlfriend Lauren Silverman's eight-year-old son, Adam, lives, accompanied the brunette beauty to a courthouse in Manhattan on Wednesday (02.19.14) to file papers to get a passport for their baby boy Eric, who was born on Friday (02.14.14).

A source told gossip website that both parents were required to be present to file the official government paperwork and Simon is only in the city for a few days.

The 54-year-old star plans to introduce his child to his mother Julie in the UK for the first time, but it is thought that Eric won't board a transatlantic flight for a few more weeks as experts recommend waiting until a newborn is four to six weeks old before taking a baby on an airplane.

Simon previously revealed that he and Lauren, 36, were planning to move back to London soon after Eric's birth, as the star will be working on his ITV series.

Earlier this month, he said: "Lauren knows what my work schedule is so she is cool with that and we will travel a little bit.

"We made the decision to come back to the UK and she wants to live here for a while."
