Death is an essential part of the AMC hit "The Walking Dead," but that simple truth couldn't possibly prepare viewers for the horrific death of their favorite character, Dale. After being mortally wounded by a walker, he is finally euthanized by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) with a bullet to the head. Dale's death is distressing because it happens when the others need him the most. Dale was the moral compass of the group; losing him will have substantial ramifications for the others.
