Salt director Phillip Noyce keeps you on the edge of your seat with this Columbia Pictures masterpiece action-thriller Salt, written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland a movie rewritten for Angela Jolie.

Noyce was selected by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Amy Pascal at Sony because of his work in prior political films as Director of Clear and Present Danger, and Patriot Games. Phillip Noyce is the son of an Australian Z Special Forces spy and grew up with stories that his father would eventually tell.

Originally the movies lead character Edwin A. Salt was to be played by Tom Cruise however, rumor has it that the actor felt that $20M was just not enough to play the part.

The audience however, didn’t mind a bit, as seasoned actor Angelina Jolie convincingly harnessed the CIA agent role as Evelyn Salt, so well that you don’t realize that she is acting.  After watching this film you could easily conceive the notion that she could break into the White House Oval Office and capture President Obama and his political Cabinet without notice for several hours.

Angelina Jolie did her homework and researched her role as a CIA spy and sleeper mole, prior filming sought out former CIA agent Melissa Boyle Mahle to find out what an agent would do in the case of being found out and what her options were.

Jolie trained with Simon Crane and developed the fighting style for Evelyn Salt, which they incorporated Israeli style Krav Maga and Muay Thai.    She took her lumps and bumps in Salt while performing stunts on the Long Island set, for a minor facial cut incurred from a dive through an opening doorway into a TV monitor.  The next day the bandage was covered with make-up by the crew.

Salt's budget was $110M and after 31 days has grossed $172,685,000 worldwide. Angelina is compelling and powerful in this movie and Salt is a must see film for 2010.

Salt stars actors Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daniel Olbrychski, and Andre Braugher.
