On Sunday’s episode of Drop Dead Diva, the episode opens as many of the show’s episodes have with a musical number. The number disguised as usual in one of Jane’s many dreams has an Italian theme running through it.  After dreaming about a bunch of half-naked men dancing around her to “Mambo Italiano” Owen surprises Jane by waking her up with a cup of coffee. After telling Owen about her dream of Italy, he takes her out for an Italian breakfast.  Jane asks Owen if he saw Stacy they had a fight and she hasn’t talked to her. Owen tells her that he hasn’t seen her but doesn’t think she ever came home.

Meanwhile, Grayson meets with Stacy in Jail, she asks Grayson what she did to deserve this and he tells her she punched someone in the face, she’s in jail for assault but agrees to defend her. Grayson tells Stacy not to worry since this is her first offence the court might be willing to drop the charges.

Meanwhile, back at the office, Fred and Terri are watching Stacy’s altercation on the Internet and can’t believe it and neither can Jane. Jane walks in and finds out from the two of them what happened and watches the altercation for herself. The two tell her not to worry that Grayson is with Stacy and he’s going to help her through this, but Jane feels guilty for ignoring Stacy’s call and letting it go to voicemail when her best friend needed her most.  Also, in the office Parker runs into Elisa and apologizes for kissing her and tells it was out of line and it will never happen again. She says it’s ok, but then is interrupted by Kim who wants to speak with Parker.

Kim tells Parker she’s sorry she blew up at him at dinner and picked a fight with him but doesn’t think their relationship can work. Parker tells her it’s fine and he agrees he still has feelings for Elisa. Kim tells him she doesn’t care the real reason she wanted to talk to him is that she wants him to make her a partner at the firm or she’ll leave. Parker asks her if she’s giving him an ultimatum and she says yes. She tells him she’s worked hard and feels she’s deserves it and if she doesn’t get it she’ll walk and is taking her clients with her. Parker tells her he can’t deal with that right now but he’ll think about it and let her know.  Parker then leaves to talk to Jane.

Parker meets with Jane and tells her that her next client is a pro-bono case an inmate on death row named Aaron Howard who is scheduled to be executed in a week. Jane tells Parker there’s not enough time for an appeal, but he tells Jane that’s the not the point of the case. He tells Jane that Aaron wants to donate his heart to his sister who needs a transplant but the prison won’t allow it. He tells them he’s scheduled a meeting for her at the prison and wants her to make Kim second chair.

Meanwhile, in court while trying to get the charges against Stacey dismissed Grayson is blindsided when the prosecutor reveals that Stacey isn’t a first time offender, she pleaded guilty for trespassing. Grayson meets with Stacy in private and Stacy tells him she didn’t trespass or steal anything she’s was covering for Deb. Grayson tells Stacy Deb would never steal. She says that Deb did steal but didn’t mean to, she was up for a role on Days of Our Lives playing Marlena’s evil twin and wanted to try on her boots to get into character, when she did, she then realized she couldn’t get them off and before getting caught by Deidre Hall herself and the police, she escaped in Stacy’s car. When the police question Stacy because it was her car she admitted to the crime because she didn’t want Deb to miss her audition. Stacy told Grayson she knows how much it meant to Deb. Grayson thinks Stacy’s loyalty is admirable and is even more determined to find a way to get her acquitted.  On the other side of the law Jane and Kim have their hands full when they meet with their client Aaron Howard.

At the prison Jane and Kim meet with Aaron who is on death row. He tells them he doesn’t want an appeal or a stay, he wants to help his sister Tina. He tells the pair that Tina has a congenital heart defect and treatment isn’t working anymore, she needs a transplant and he’s a match. He wants to give her his heart, however in California due to the drugs used for the lethal injection, the three combined render the heart useless.  However, he’s researched and in other states they use just the one which keep the heart healthy and intact making it ok for a transplant.  Aaron tells them the second hurdle is that he hasn’t spoken to his sister in years and doesn’t even know if she’d accept his apology let alone his heart.  Jane and Kim both realize that they have to convince Aaron’ sister Tina to forgive her brother and convince her to take the heart so her brother can leave the world knowing he did something good and his sister will alright without him. Then, the next step will be trying to convince the prison to change the protocol for Aaron’s execution to a drug that won’t damage his heart.

Later that evening, Jane meets Owen for dinner where Owen informs her he’s been picked by the America’s Cup to sail around the world and he wants Jane to come with him. Jane asks him how he can leave his job, he’s a judge and he says it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and wants to go and wants her to go with him and he has to leave in two days. Jane says she can’t just leave she has a life here, a job, friends and responsibilities. Disappointed Owen tells he understands but hopes she’ll change her mind.

Back at the office, Elisa gets a call from the emergency room saying her son has been hurt and admitted she races there to be with him. Soon after leaving, Parker comes looking for Elisa and Fred tells him that she had an emergency and had to go to the hospital.  Parker anxious to find out what’s wrong rushes over there, but when he arrives at the hospital he is surprised to not find Elisa but her son Eric.  Parker quickly figures out that Eric is his son and blows up at Elisa in the hospital for not telling him before storming out.  Later, when Elisa goes to his office to apologize for not telling him sooner and says she tried so many times but didn’t know how.  Parker still angry and skeptical of her motives throws a check at her assuming that’s why she got involved with him again in the first place. Elisa tells Parker that’s not why she came back and does not want his money upset she leaves.

Meanwhile, Jane and Kim meet with Aaron’s sister Tina to try to convince her that Aaron is sorry and remorseful for what he’s done but can’t take it back. They tell her he wants to leave the world knowing he did something good and wants to know that his sister will be okay without him. Still reluctant, Tina tells them she saw the family and the victims he hurt and can’t forget and doesn’t know if she can forgive that and take his heart. Kim then makes up a story about her cousin and says he’s been on the transplant list waiting for a heart for years and here she has a chance to get one and is refusing.  Tina then reconsiders and says she will accept her brother’s heart. Once they leave Tina’s office, Kim tells Jane she lied and doesn’t even have a cousin but knows Tina wouldn’t have taken the heart otherwise.

With Stacy in jail and facing many problems, Fred realizes how much he loves her and wants to be with her.  On bail, Stacy goes to see Fred at the office, wanting to tell him that she loves him and can’t imagine her life without him.  Meanwhile Jane and Kim go back to court when they are informed the judge has made a decision on the protocol for Aaron’s execution.

When the pair get in court they learn from the judge it’s a no they will not change the protocol, and when they get back to the office and inform Tina she collapses. Later at the hospital the doctor tells them that Tina needs a new heart now or she won’t survive.  Once Jane leaves Tina she sees Terri in the hallway, Terri tells Jane that they are giving Aaron lasts rights at 9pm and he wants her to be there.

Later back at the office, Kim and Jane are getting ready to head to the prison for Aaron’s execution when Terri tells them that she just got a call from the prison saying that Aaron hung himself in his cell to make sure that bypass getting the injections so his sister could get his heart. When they arrive at the prison the warden tells them that Aaron is brain dead but his heart is intact. He tells them that as long as Aaron’s heart is still beating Aaron is still his prisoner and will not release his body for the operation. Jane and Kim appeal Aaron’s conviction on the grounds that the death certificate of the man he killed was never presented as evidence.  The judge grants the motion for the appeal, releasing custody of his body enabling Tina to get the operation.

Grayson and Stacy try to exonerate her by finding the boots Deb stole to prove they don’t fit Stacy. After finding the boots Deb stole, Grayson has Stacy try on the boots in court.  When Stacy’s feet appear to be too big to fit into the boots, and she is declared innocent.

Jane visits Tina in the hospital and tells her the operation was a success. As Jane leaves Tina she runs in to Owen who asks her once more to go with him. Jane says she would love to go but there are people here that depend on her.

Back at the office, Parker meets with Kim and tells her Eric is his son and after being rude and nasty to Elisa he needs to go after her and make things right. He tells her she got her wish; he’ll make her partner.  He tells her in making her partner; he needs her to hold down the fort while he’s away.

Grayson calls Stacy to his office and tells her the charges against her have been dropped. Excited, Stacy hugs Grayson and then without warning he kisses her and Jane sees it all. Upon seeing them kiss, she feels betrayed and thinks there is no future with Grayson and leaves. Meanwhile, Stacy pulls away from Grayson who apologizes for kissing her but saying that she looks and acts just like Deb. Stacy tells him she’s not Deb, Jane is.

At the airport, Jane meets Owen and tells her that he inspired her to follow her dream of going to Italy when he told her he was going to follow his dream.  Later, as Jane gets ready to board her plane, she runs into Fred who tells her he’s going with her. Jane tells him he’s not going she wants to do this alone. Fred tells her he’s kind of relieved because he wants to propose to Stacy. Jane wants to tell him about Grayson and Stacy’s kiss, and says is he really sure that Stacy wants to be with him. He says he heard her himself, but she tells him he should travel the world and find a new dream. Jane says goodbye and boards the plane.

Meanwhile, Grayson has raced to the airport to get on Jane’s flight just as the doors close. He tries to get the Stewardess to get him on the plane, as Jane is settling in her seat. She is surprised when she sees Owen there too. Owen tells her he has his whole life to fulfill his dream but only has one chance to go to Italy with her.  Back at the terminal the stewardess tells Grayson it’s too late and Grayson has to watch as Jane’s plane takes off.
