ABC announced that "The Bachelorette" season 10 contestant Chris Soules has become the next star of hit series "The Bachelor," which will kick off in January 2015.
The fan favorite, who was one of the final three men vying for Andi Dorfman's love on the latest season of "The Bachelorette," was revealed on Good Morning America Wednesday.
The Iowa corn and soybean farmer, known to fans as "Farmer Chris," was the clear frontrunner since the post-finale episode of "The Bachelorette." Host Chris Harrison explained during the "After The Final Rose" special that producers hadn't yet made the decision on who would get the part, but Soules' name was thrown into the mix then and there.
This time Soules did land atop the final three, which included season 10 runner-up Nick Viall and season 8 runner-up and racecar driver Arie Luyendyk Jr., who actually hinted that Soules was chosen with a tweet on Tuesday.
"I'm not the Bachelor, have fun on the farm people," he wrote. "Thanks for the kind words everyone. It wasn't meant to be, and I'm okay with it. Happy I can move forward."
