AMC's hit drama Breaking Bad dominated the 2014 Prime Time Emmy Awards on Monday night, taking five awards during the 66th annual event.

The series picked up its second consecutive win for Outstanding Drama Series, and its three main stars, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn all landed awards in their respective acting categories (see list of winners below). Cranston won his fourth Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy, while Paul took home his third Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Gunn her second consecutive Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Award.

"Breaking Bad" also picked up the award for Outstanding Writing For a Drama Series.

In the comedy department it was perennial favorite Modern Family, which picked up its fifth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series award and also picked up awards for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Ty Burrell.

The BBC's Sherlock was also a big winner, winning a writing award and the Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, respectively.

In stark contrast to Sunday night's other awards show, the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, this year's Emmys often felt lacking save for a performance by Weird Al Yankovic and Andy Samberg putting lyrics to the "Game of Thrones" theme song and begging writer George R.R. Martin -- who was in the audience -- to hurry up and write the next parts of the story.

Sara Bareilles was the other big hightlight despite her bittersweet rendition of Nat King Cole's "Smile" during the show's In Memorium segmeents.

Following the tribute, comedian Billy Crystal took the stage to honor his late friend and fellow comedian Robin Williams in a very heartfelt tribute.
