American Hustle received a strong Oscar push Tuesday night at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.

Director David O. Russell's follow up to last year's eight-time Oscar nominee Silver Linings Playbook, landed the Best Picture trophy along with Best Screenplay. Jennifer Lawrence, who took home the Best Actress Oscar last year for her performance in "Silver Linings Playbook," won the Best Supporting Actress award for the film. Her reteaming with Russell puts her in good position for an Oscar nomination for the third year in a row (she was nominated in 2011 for "Winter's Bone."

Russell was edged out in the Best Director category by 12 Years a Slave helmer Steve McQueen; while Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett won the Lead Actor and Lead Actress trophies for "All is Lost" and "Blue Jasmine," respectively.
