The wife of legendary radio deejay Casey Kasem has challenged a conservatorship filing from his three children by filing papers of her own in court on Tuesday.
Casey's kids took legal action last week after their stepmother, actress Jean Kasem, cut them off from visiting their father, who is suffering from advanced Parkinson's disease.
Kerri, Julie and Mike Kasem filed for legal control of their father's affairs after being refused visits and phone calls for over three months, but now their stepmother has fired back.
Jean claims that she's been caring for her husband, who is also suffering from early onset dementia, and says that the conservatorship should be given to her.
According to TMZ.com, Kasem's kids claim that they have power of attorney for their father, stemming from a 2007 court ruling; however, Jean claims that it was nullified in 2011 and she has control.
The former "Cheers" actress also says that her stepchildren sponged off of her and her husband for years and still haven't repayed loans in the six figure ranges.
