Helen Fielding Kills Off Mark Darcy In Latest 'Bridget Jones' Novel
Bridget Jones fans were left reeling on Sunday when news broke that author Helen Fielding has killed off the title character's husband, Mark Darcy, in her latest novel.
Britain's Sunday Times published an excerpt of Fielding's new book, "Mad About The Boy", revealing that the unlucky-in-love Jones, 51 and a widowed mother of two. The story takes place five years after Darcy's death, when Jones meets new beau, 30-year-old Roxster, on twitter.
The book's synopsis reveals some of the issues that the title character faces, including what to do when her friend's birthday party falls on the same day as your new boy-toy's birthday and dealing with her childrens' head lice.
Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth played Jones and Darcy in the movie adaptations of the first two book in the series, Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
The new book comes out October 10.
