Selena Gomez has spoken out over her new single "Come & Get It," saying recent rumors that it's about ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber aren't true.
"I love you too much, much to hide you, This love ain't finished yet..." she sings on the new song, saying that it's about her gaining more confidence as she matures. "...This love will be the death of me, but I know I'll die happily."
The single, which leaked online on Saturday, was set to debut on Ryan Seacrest's Los Angeles radio show, and despite the early leak it still crashed the American Idol host's website on Monday after it's on-air release.
"Honestly, to be 100% real. It's not really about a specific person. The reason why I wanted this to be the first single was because it exudes... confidence and strength and that is something I'm willing to share with the world," she told Seacrest on Monday. "That's the place I want to be in and I want to represent something good and be a good example, so I think it's fun."
Selena's new single was written by Ester Deanby and produced by Stargate, both of whom have worked with Rihanna, and rumor has it the single was previously recorded for Rihanna's "Unapologetic" album but left off -- meaning it really wasn't written about Justin.
"I just remember recording it and being in the studio and just thinking of how the place I was in and what I was going through and I was just so excited about it and I wanted it to be the first single," she says.
"Come & Get It" is the first single off her next album, which is due sometime this summer.
