Kelly Clarkson opens up about her love life, fashion and career challenges in the August issue of Lucky magazine, the publication's first ever music-themed issue.
The "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" singer considers herself to be more of a country star than a pop star in the way she lives her life. And she's got plenty of ties to the genre these days, using it to finally put to bed one rumor about her that's been going around for a long time now.
"Oh, there's all these rumors that I'm a lesbian," she says. "I have a boyfriend now, Brandon Blackstock, my manager Narvel's son, Reba McEntire's stepson."
Kelly also says that being a pop star isn't easy.
"People act like there's this one set of rules to follow to be a pop star, and I think, Well, you say I'm a pop star, so maybe that's not true," she says.
"The hardest thing about being in this business is just being able to be yourself."
She's a "normal" girl at heart, and her low maintenance style and love of simplicity prove it.
"I put on the Hank Williams and the Patsy Cline and the Rosemary Clooney on vinyl—I'm not trying to be some cool indie - rock person, I just love the way it sounds—and throw on a t-shirt and jeans," she says of her simple daily routine. "In Texas, we practically come out of the womb in jeans."
She's even got a love of the outdoors.
"I just had my 30th birthday and we went turkey shooting. It's what I wanted to do, so we went," she says.
