Comedian Russell Brand, who will host tonight's MTV Movie Awards, is planning to re-introduce himself to Charlize Theron after his first meeting with the Oscar winner ended in humiliation.

The Rock Of Ages star met the South African beauty at a party once and didn't recognize her, missing an opportunity to make an impression because he was acting "like an idiot."

"[Theron]'s amazing, isn't she? "I met her and it was embarrassing," he says, "I messed it up bad. I met her and didn't recognize her. I was at a party and I was looking at birds (women). She came over and said something untoward. And I showed off, like an idiot, not recognizing her."

Brand says that in hindsight he saw it as an opportunity to flirt with the star; recalling, "I thought, 'Oh no! I didn't use any of my moves!'"

Now Brand, single after splitting from wife Katy Perry last year, hopes to get reacquainted with the Prometheus star at tonight's awards ceremony.

"It's a new day, it's a new dawn, it's a new life. Is she single?" he says.
