Rapper Nicki Minaj doesn't want kids to hear the explicit versions of her songs - but instead of omitting them from her songwriting all together she's put the responsibility on parents.

"I don't want children cursing. I'm very strict on my nieces and my little brother. They have to listen to clean versions of music," she tells Britain's The Guardian.

But instead of making her music more family friendly, she says that expecting a female rapper like herself to clean up her songs is sexist.

"Why do people ask me to lose swear words? Do people ask Eminem to lose swear words? Do they ask Lil Wayne to lose swear words? Nobody stops them and says 'Would you stop swearing... for the children, please?'"

Fortunately for parents there are a few places that sell the edited version of Minaj's albums, like retail giant Walmart, which only sells edited versions of explicit albums; and her songs are cleaned up for airplay on radio and television.

Nicki Minaj just released her latest video, "Starships" - watch it below (the explicit version)...
