Director: Andrew Stanton
Writer: Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews, Michael Chabon
ORIGINALITY RATING: High. Normally a Sci-Fi epic about an alien world with an unlikely hero who rescues a beautiful princess wouldn't exactly be that original of an idea, but since it was Burroughs who pretty much had the idea first, we'd call that pretty original. Disney's turned Burroughs' epic into the modern-day Star Wars, all the way down to the casting of the film by staying away from the big stars. The trailer is epic in iits scale and promises lots of action and adventure. If the film is as good as many are saying, we can expect several sequels to John Carter as Burroughs' series ran 11 volumes long.
WHO SHOULD SEE IT: Anyone who wants to see a great 3D Sci-Fi action hero epic and Star Wars fans will probably like it better than the prequels. The film is rated PG-13, but we hear seven and up should enjoy it.
