Demi Lovato has capped off a nearly year-long comeback since checking in to a rehab center last fall with a busy month - including performances at an anti-bullying rally and during the World Series, getting ready for a tour that kicks off in Detroit on Nov. 16, and answering lots of questions about the past year of her life.

Now the star is "happy, healthy and driven," according to the new issue of Latina magazine. Demi opens up about her struggles in the issue, revealing that she wasn't even sure if a career comeback was even possible after her treatment for a nervous breakdown that sent her to rehab after dropping out of a tour with the Jonas Brothers last fall.

"I thought I was going to lose everything when I checked myself into treatment," she tells Latina. "I didn't know if I would have a career at all when I came home. So it really hit me – I hadn't been grateful. In that sense, I can honestly say I'm glad I hit rock bottom when I did. Most people don't have those moments.

"I see a lot of young people in this industry who feel entitled because they haven't hit rock bottom yet. I feel blessed when I get an opportunity now."

Demi explains that her management and family encouraged her to speak up about battling her demons - she couldn't help but to agree.

"[T]hey were all bringing up a good point: What teens need most is someone that they can relate to – someone they connect with on serious subjects like eating disorders, cutting, bipolar disorder, depression and bullying. I've been there. I get it. Why wouldn't I be honest about it so I could help someone else?"

Demi also discusses her estranged father, how she stays healthy, her plans for 2012 ("I really want to be at the Grammys") and, of course, being Latina.
