'Sucker Punch' Star Abbie Cornish: 'I'm Not The Type To Want To Go Shoot A Gun'
Australian actress Abbie Cornish, who stars in the big-budget fantasy film Sucker Punch (which opens this week), adorns the cover of the April issue of GQ magazine, on sale now.
Abbie's outfit, above, features a bodysuit by Louis Vuitton, along with Victoria's Secret bra, fishnet stockings by Wolford and a pair of red high-heels by Melissa. The image is from a series of outtakes that didn't make it into the new issue. Check out more pics here (you won't be disappointed!)
In Sucker Punch, Abbie plays the role of Sweet Pea, a young girl institutionalized in a mental institution who teams up with five other girls in an attempt to break out. The film, set in the 1950s and much of which takes place in the fantasy alternate reality of main character Babydoll (Emily Browning) - who is scheduled for a lobotomy in five days, promises lots of over-the-top action scenes.
Cornish, a vegetarian who's spent the majority of her young career appearing in art house films, explains the first pleasant surprise she got when she had to pick up her character's weapon for the first time.
"I'm a vegetarian - I'm not the type to want to go shoot a gun," says Cornish. "Then I actually got to the range and totally fell in love with an M4. It was kind of amazing."
Up next for Abbie? She'll star in Madonna's directorial debut, W.E.
Sucker Punch is directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) and also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jamie Chung and Jon Hamm. The film opens this Friday.
