"Terminator"

 The Terminator

In a future war (that hasn’t happened yet,) the leader of the near-extinct human race John Connor (who hasn’t been born yet,) sends a soldier back in time to stop an android assassin from killing his mother (which would thereby cancel his existence and stop the human rebellion. Make sense?) Don’t worry if not, because back in 1984, “The Terminator’s” time traveling paradox befuddled even the most astute of futuristic audiences. James Cameron’s first notable directorial and writing effort was an intelligent and thrilling display of high octane, action movie creativity. “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” is the superior movie by a storytelling and character development standpoint. But for creating the quintessential time paradox with Kyle Reese becoming John Connor’s father, and John Connor in turn causing his own birth, the original is much more creatively satisfying.
