The age of grunge music and beanie baby mania also was home to plenty of masterful movies. From Spielberg’s historical masterpieces to Scorsese and Tarantino inspired gangster action, the 90’s ran a gamut of films representing the best of every genre. Certainly an improvement over the flashy blockbuster films of the 80s, these films of the 20th century’s penultimate decade were adored by critics and casual moviegoers alike. Here are the best movies of the 1990s.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved to watch gangster movies - Goodfellas in particular. No, “Goodfellas” isn’t funny like a clown, but it does shoot out like a speeding bullet and never stops, always entertaining and thrilling at every turn.
While “The Godfather” saga focused on the mob’s management structure, “Goodfellas” looked at the lower level guys who actually make and take the hits. It’s not necessarily the most artistic of Scorsese or De Niro’s films, but it is unquestionably the most fun.
