Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds

Watching a classic horror film starring a trademark murderous psychopath always makes for good movie fun. But there are a select few of onscreen murderers whose presence has been so mesmerizingly terrifying that we couldn’t help but leap out of our seats when they slashed and diced up victims on screen. Sure, it’s only a movie, but tell that to these 9 psychopaths who really did scare us in real life.

Colonel Hans Landa in “Inglourious Basterds

There is no scene as tense in recent cinema memory quite like Landa’s introductory encounter with the French dairy farmer. His smiles and courteous actions aren’t disingenuous so much as sincere maneuvers in an effort to see you dead.
