This Week's Shining & Falling Stars: Katy Perry & Snooki

Shining Star – Katy Perry
It’s official: Katy Perry was the queen of summer 2010. Her easily stuck-in-your-head hit “California Gurls” was named the most popular song of the summer by Billboard.
The music charting service says the ditty about girls donning Daisy Dukes with bikinis on top pretty much ruled the charts during all of June and July.
And it’s not the first time the quirky songstress has taken the title of Song of the Summer. Her first single, “I Kissed a Girl”, also held the top spot back in 2008.
Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" duet with Rihanna comes in second on the new summer list and B.o.B's "Airplanes" places third. Usher's "OMG" and "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz round out the season top five.
Perry has proved that when it comes to cranking out summertime mega hits, she’s got it on lock.
Falling Star - Snooki

Oh Snooki, your delightfully dimwitted persona may be great for the cameras, but it shouldn’t result in you potentially getting an arrest record!
Nicole Polizzi, aka the 22-year-old pint-sized star of MTV’s Jersey Shore, appeared in court this week after cops in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, arrested her for disorderly conduct.
It may be hard to imagine, but officers claim the self-anointed “guidette” was annoying beachgoers by wandering around yelling profanities while she was intoxicated.
A judge ordered Snooki to serve two days of community service and pay a $500 fine. But perhaps the biggest diss towards the diminutive diva? The judge called Polizzi a “Lindsay Lohan wannabe”. As if!
Instead of gym, tanning, and laundry, perhaps “GTL” should stand for gym, tanning, and laying off the booze?
