'The Office' Recap: 'Pool Party'
Have you ever wanted to see Robert California naked? Or watch Gabe trip over his pants while falling into a pool naked? Or Erin ride Dwight’s shoulders? If so, then this is a twisted episode of ‘The Office’ for you!
Perhaps continuing his strange genius from last week, Kevin suggests to Robert that he have a “last hurrah” pool party at his home before it goes on the market. Somehow, Robert thinks this is a good idea, and an intimate get-together ensues… which involves several characters drinking entire bottles of wine, skinny-dipping, near proposals and pool violence. This sounds like Michael Scott’s dream.
At the party, a group of the guys, including Robert, Toby, Oscar, Ryan and Jim take a tour of the house, including the wine cellar (where the wine drinking starts). Jim is determined to put in an appearance and make like a tree and leave, but it’s not that easy. Robert calls him out on every attempt to make an escape, and he’s stuck there for the duration of the party.
Andy, meanwhile, is on the verge of proposing to Jessica with a family ring with the main diamond removed (classy!). But he loses the ring early on, and it’s found by Kelly. You know that can’t be good.
Erin decides to make Andy jealous by flirting with Dwight. Dwight responds to the unexpected advances by throwing Erin face-first into the pool, but he ultimately has a good time with a mock chicken fight in the pool. In the end, Erin’s ploy actually kinda works, with Andy questioning his intentions with Jessica.
What do you think? Where is the momentum heading now? Should Michael make a guest appearance before season’s end to help this show’s transitional woes?
Also, don’t get me started on the meatballs. That’s gross.
