Cate Blanchett To Make Her Directorial Debut With 'The Dinner'

Cate BlanchettCate Blanchett is to make her debut as a director in The Dinner.

According to Deadline, the Australian actress has been signed up to direct the adaptation of Herman Koch's novel, which explores the psychological side of just how far some parents may go to protect their children, but it is not yet known whether she will star in the movie as well.

The story will be set in Amsterdam and revolve around two brothers, one of which is running for Prime Minister of Netherlands, who must deal with their teenage sons after they discover they have committed an awful crime.

Blanchett is no stranger to directing after spending the last five years as co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company alongside her husband Andrew Upton, but this will be the first movie she has conducted on her own.

The 44 year-old beauty will next be seen starring in Woody Allen's upcoming movieĀ Blue Jasmine where she features alongside Alec Baldwin as she plays a housewife who doubts her life choices when faced with a crisis.
