Paul Giamatti Shooting 1980s Miami Detective TV Drama 'Hoke'

Paul GiamattiRenowned Hollywood actor Paul Giamatti is heading to television to play an out of control homicide detective in 1980s Florida.
 
The 46 year-old will shoot a pilot for Hoke, the story of detective Hoke Moseley, the main character in Charles Willeford's series of novels.

Production will begin next year and if the honchos at FX network choose to take up a series, it would mark Giamatti's first long-term leading role on TV.

FX programming president Eric Schrier says, "Charles Willeford is one of the most deeply respected writers of crime fiction and he created a wholly original and colorful lead character in Detective Hoke Mosely... and we are honored that Paul Giamatti will bring Hoke to life."

Giamatti won acclaim for his 2008 miniseries John Adams, for which he won a Golden Globe. He has also starred as Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton in Private Parts and will be seen in Downton Abbey later this year.
