April 20th is more than just 420. It also happens to be celebrity doppelganger day! So while our nations’ stoners toke themselves into a raging hunger, here’s a list of celebs that look so similar it might just trip them out.
Sandra Bullock and Michael Jackson
This is not to say Sandra Bullock is not a beautiful woman, but with her tiny, upturned nose and high cheekbones it is difficult not to see the facial similarities between her and Michael Jackson. The resemblance is even more striking when you turn up the white contrast on your television. Creepy. Of course, because Ms. Bullock’s face has not been destroyed by excess plastic surgeries, she does not look as frightening as the late King of Pop. But don’t tell me that if you saw her walking down the street at a time when she looks especially pale, you wouldn’t take a second look to make sure you weren’t seeing MJ’s ghost passing by.
And just to make this a three-way doppelganger juggernaut surprise, I can’t help but add that Officer Montoya as seen on Batman: The Animated Series looks like a cartoon MJ with a tan.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem
This resemblance was actually brought to my attention by a friend. Just as long as both men agree to never rock a bowl cut a la Mr. Bardem in No Country for Old Men, I’m okay with them.
Joe Jonas and Camilla Belle
One might secrete more estrogen than the other (who and how much is impossible to tell), but they are doppelgangers nonetheless. (Especially when Mr. Jonas lets the locks get a little long). What is kind of gross about this is the fact that they dated. Making out for them might have been like kissing one’s reflection in the mirror… or kissing one’s fraternal twin. *Shudder * if anything, their relationship was a testament to their narcissism: the foundation of most Hollywood romances.
Beyoncé and Shakira
No one realized how much these two looked alike until their music video for Beautiful Liar. With Beyoncé's ubiquity one would think we would be able to tell the difference between the two, but in Beautiful Liar, it was rather difficult. We’re all for another Beyoncé- Shakira collaboration, as long as it doesn’t include that whole creepy twin motif.
Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley
This may be the most obvious of doppelgangers. Knightley acted as Portman’s decoy Queen Amidala in Episode I, and it probably should have stayed that way. We would have been spared a slew of breathy, pouty, lockjaw-y period piece performances from Knightley. Seen but not heard, Kiera, that’s how we like you best!
Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry
Katy Perry is a miracle of science. The first successful human clone! And a clone of Zooey Deschanel at that! Hooray?
Sasha Pivovarova and Gemma Ward
In many interviews, model Chanel Iman has expressed that she has often been turned down from walking in shows because they already had filled the quota (one) for black girls. It is curious to me that it would be a special occasion to see the likes of Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn to walk the runway at the same time, while Sasha Pivovarova and Gemma Ward get booked because they are so indistinguishable from one another. Fashion FAIL. We don’t need another blonde supermodel at the forefront of fashion, much less two who look exactly alike.
Miranda Kerr and Adriana Lima
On the same train of models that look similar, Miranda Kerr looks like Adriana Lima’s sixteen year old sister. She’s actually in her late twenties, which is a good sign-- Victoria’s secret hasn’t resorted to using underaged models to sell bras and panties to their older clientele… at least not yet!
