Gifts For Celebrities This Holiday Season

December 23rd, 2010 5:00pm EST
kk
No matter if they've been naughty or nice, the rich and famous always get the gifts we wish we could every Holiday Season. Here are some more practical celeb presents Santa should bring down the chimney:

For Kim Kardashian: Her face circa 2008. She no doubt looked best with her natural face, but in 2008, Kim didn't look as facelift-y as she does these days. She was smokin' hot, like a real-life Princess Jasmine. Now she just looks exactly like her mother, Kris, that is, if Kris' face was pulled tighter. Not a good look, Kimmy!

For Lindsay Lohan: Rehab that actually works. No more ...

Kanye West, You Don't Have To Apologize For Anything

November 18th, 2010 2:30pm EST
Kanye West
I never thought these words would pass from my lips, but: poor Kanye. It's hard these days not to feel sorry for the guy, in spite of his famous and well-documented infamous antics. Though I cannot cosign on some of the many tantrums he's thrown at award shows where winning would have been of little relevance to his career, it's sad to see a man who is being attacked and publicly shamed for being real.

In his now-infamous interview with Matt Lauer, Kanye West expresses regret and empathy for saying that George W. Bush did not care about black people in the wake of Katrina, because he was a...

Willow Smith Is Better Than Rihanna

October 20th, 2010 11:05am EDT
ok haircut
Yeah, I said it. I know in the past, I've been very critical of Rihanna, and for good reason. But Willow Smith's performance in the recent release of her debut music video makes it clear my bewilderment as to why Rihanna is even relevant.

Last year, I wrote an article comparing Rihanna's performance in her music video for Hard with Beyoncé's in Video Phone. Beyoncé had more energy and managed to make sure that she remained the focus of the music video, not just her fabulous outfits. Rihanna did the opposite. I was bored with her performance, and the only redeeming quality of Hard was the f...

Can A Model of Color Win This High Fashion Season of 'America's Next Top Model'?

September 15th, 2010 2:38pm EDT
Top Model
For this new season (excuse me, cycle) of America’s Next Top Model, Tyra ain’t playin’. Faced with the fact that her show has failed to actually produce a top model, Tyra is pulling out all the stops this season in order to enhance the show’s credibility. She’s upped the stakes: The winner of this season gets a contract with the best model management company, IMG. For those who don’t understand how big of a deal IMG is, Gisele, Alek Wek, Heidi Klum, and Kate Moss are all IMG models. The winner also gets the cover and two fashion spreads in Vogue Italia, the cover of Beauty In Vogue, along...

Is Beyoncé The Greatest Diva of All Time?

August 4th, 2010 8:31am EDT
queen bee
Rarely does someone anoint an artist “The Greatest of All Time,” in a situation where it is not wildly hyperbolic. However, when the title is deserved, it is often given to older, more established artists. It is only in a moment of overwhelming greatness (for example, with Michael Jackson), that someone will proclaim a more contemporary artist “The Greatest.”

Today, we are going to argue that Beyoncé is indeed the greatest diva of all time. We admit, there are and have been divas of yesterday, last week, and right now who are stronger in areas where Beyoncé is lacking: Mary J. Blige’s musi...

Can A Teenybopper Catch A Break?

June 22nd, 2010 9:26am EDT
JoBros
Teenyboppers. Every generation has a set of them—musical artists who are talented, but kid-friendly to the point that they send the youth into a frenzy. They’re a record label staple: young acts that can spur an enamored tween demographic, one without disposable income, to force their parents do the spending for them with tears and declarations of imminent death if they don’t have that poster hanging in their room or an entire album downloaded on itunes. While it is clear that some tween acts have been less talented than others, they are still generally met with a particular sort of disdain...

There Is Little Originality With Lady Gaga's Shtick, Except She's A White Woman

May 10th, 2010 11:21am EDT
Lady Gaga
It is hard to believe that in two short years, Lady Gaga has gone from being an underground artist in New York City, trying to find her way after graduating from a prestigious prep school, to an internationally known pop-culture icon. In China, "OMLG" (Oh my Lady Gaga!) has replaced "OMG."

Her popularity has less to do with the quality of her music (as fun and danceable as it is) and more to do with her audacious image and the fact that she considers herself a "performance artist." And boy, does she commit. There is never a time when we see her out of costume, not playing the part that she...

4/20 Is Also Celebrity Doppelgangers Day

April 20th, 2010 10:42am EDT
Celebrity Doppelgangers Day
April 20th is more than just 420. It also happens to be celebrity doppelganger day! So while our nations’ stoners toke themselves into a raging hunger, here’s a list of celebs that look so similar it might just trip them out.

Sandra Bullock and Michael Jackson

This is not to say Sandra Bullock is not a beautiful woman, but with her tiny, upturned nose and high cheekbones it is difficult not to see the facial similarities between her and Michael Jackson. The resemblance is even more striking when you turn up the white contrast on your television. Creepy. Of course, because Ms. Bullock’s fa...

Celebrities We Would Not Want to Date

February 14th, 2010 12:00pm EST
Snoop Dogg
There are so many celebrity romances we fantasize about being involved in. But there are those out there in Hollywood we wouldn’t touch, even with bionic gloves. Here are eight celebs we would Never date.

Snoop Dogg

This rapidly aging rapper recently admitted to Touré in an interview that he’s played "Bitches Ain’t S*** But Hoes and Tricks" for his young daughter. What a lovely message to send to a little girl, that she is of little value and will never be anything but a whore! His stints in pornography, general unabashed lack of respect for women, and the fact that his past relations...

Most Overexposed Celebrities Of 2009

December 28th, 2009 9:13am EST
Kim Kardashian
2009 comes to a close with another crop of celebrities (and celebutards) that we saw entirely too much of. They invaded our televisions and our internet, they spread-eagled themselves all over our tabloids, and they fascinated and annoyed us at the same time. Here's a last look at them in '09, just in case you forgot:

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson

Nothing is more annoying than picking up a tabloid and seeing plain faced people on the cover. The imagined romance between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was little more than bad fangirl fiction. It is difficult to understand t...
