PocketPeople.comWhile the New Year magic slowly fades as the January days begin to slip away, it is time for a new round of products to hit the market.  One of the largest exhibitions of merchandise within its respected industry, the NYC Toy Fair, is closing in on us once again with a riveting collection of new ventures.  Although enthused kids and parents are important to the atmosphere of the fair, the success of a product goes hand in hand with the amount of strong media attention behind it.

My bet on the camera catchers for this year is a fresh new business called “PocketPeople”.  Not only are the dolls absolutely unique and adorable  but contain all of the tools needed to strut their stuff!  The product is backed by Fabric Avenue/Times Avenue, one of the largest distributors of fashion and home textiles / trimmings in North America and will also provide the fabrics for its mass production.  The marketing of PocketPeople is headed by Laura Stone Walston, the former VP of licensing for DIC Entertainment and a former consultant for Barbie Products who is well versed on the effective strategic planning of a business.

So far PocketPeople have mainly been seen distributed in California, to no surprise the state in which the brand was “born”.  California is one of the largest capitals of the toy market housing the most toy stores of any state within the USA.  Slowly the buzz started to pick up when these dolls unexpectedly found themselves in the pockets of a quite a few major celebrities of all ages including Harrison Ford, Allison Hannigan, Leslie Mann and many more. This will give the hype an added jolt thanks to the fickle friend of “star power” next month.

Rita Ross, the creator of PocketPeople will be in attendance of the Toy Fair to help promote her hobby-turned-business when the exhibition opens on to the public on February 10-13th,2013 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  It is sure to be a great year since the toy industry is on the rise again since its decline
back in 2009. For more information: http://www.PocketPeopleAvenue.com
