Paramount Pictures has set a the date for the fifth installment of its hugely successful “found footage” horror franchise Paranormal Activity.
According to Deadline.com the studio has cleverly selected October 25, 2013 for Paranormal Activity 5 to ensure horror fans can receive a healthy dose of all things scary just in time for the Halloween period.
The horror franchise has been helmed by a variety of directors such as Oren Peli (The River) who wrote and directed the first installment, Tod Williams (The Door in the Floor) directed the sequel , followed by directing duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish) who directed both Paranormal Activity 3 and 4. The most recent installment released this year has already grossed a massive $135 million worldwide.
There is not yet word on who will be directing the fifth installment , however with the great success that Joost and Schulman are having with the franchise I wouldn't be surprised if they stepped in for a third time.
The October 25 release date will see Paranormal Activity 5 go head to head with Edgar Wright's The World’s End which centres on five friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier and unwittingly become humankind's only hope for survival starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz)
