Blu-ray Review: 'Snow White And The Huntsman'

Classic tale – new look. We’re checking out the more than a fairy tale version of the classic tale titled "Snow White and the Huntsman," out now on Blu-ray from Universal Home Entertainment.

Title: "Snow White and the Huntsman"
Grade: 3
Cast: Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth
Director: Rupert Sanders

The Flick: Entertaining for sure, "Snow White and the Huntsman" is pure fun escapism that doesn’t try to be anything more. It’s got a decent princess (a forlorn Kristen Stewart), a bitchy Queen (nothing says mean and hot like Charlize Theron covered in milk!), a tough rogue (Chris Hemsworth much more engaging here then in "Thor!") and some sassy dwarfs (inspired casting – from Nick Frost to Toby Jones!), some fun action sequences and a pinch of CGI fairy magic. It’s a film that shows it’s color right up front and on that level does not disappoint - sometimes just being entertaining is okay.
Best Feature: There’s a cavalcade of extras on everything and everyone but the most thrilling and disturbing feature is 'Around the Kingdom: 360 Set Tour' that shows a panoramic view of entire sets (glorious work!), but is introduced by a rather pained looking Director Rupert Sanders. (Was this filmed after the 'event' or something because it shows!)
Best Hidden Gem: Even in dwarf form Ian McShane still kicks a little person ass!
Worth the Moola: This is a movie to rent solely to be pleasantly distracted – nothing more, nothing less. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)
